Hi there!
My name is Marek. People also call me mr.Shu. It may have something to do with my last name.
I currently lead the Data Team at Slido, were we try to change the way audiences interact. Previously, I was helping to build a private search engine at DuckDuckGo.
My other occupation is teaching at the
Comenius University in Bratislava.
When it comes to research, my interests are in
NLP and applications
of Computer Vision and generally Machine Learning to interesting
practical problems.
- December 2023
- The prompt IDE we use at Slido, prompterator, made it to EMNLP 2023. Do try it out by following the instructions in the repo and check out the paper!
- September 2020
- I had a chance to speak at the Slovak Machine Learning Summer School 2020 in Zilina. Check my slides on Neural Networks for Sequence Processing (in NLP)
- April 2020
- Our paper A Summarization Dataset of Slovak News Articles has been accepted to LREC 2020!
I used to build robots, especially soccer playing ones. Now I try to give back by helping others start with that in RoboCupJunior.
Whenever time permits, I also like to write. Sometimes on my blog. Here is a small sample of the last pieces I published:
- Five things I wish I knew the day I started University
- How to get the most out of RoboCup(Junior)
- How I built an app for FirefoxOS
I am a big proponent of free and open-source software. Most of my contributions can be found on GitHub.
Should you like to stay in contact, let's do that via Twitter, LinkedIn, GitHub or mail.
